Say Hello to Hiking

If you’re someone who enjoys a lengthy hike and breathing the fresh air, then Emerson Point is an ideal location for you. There are several hiking trails that will take you to many breathtaking sights that simply can’t be described in words. And what’s better, there are no fees to be collected upon entry. That’s right, all of this wonderful scenery is available to you free of charge. Though we do recommend that a small donation be made to help preserve the area for future generations to enjoy.

Kayaking

Just in case hiking isn’t your bag and you want a more adventurous experience, many visitors to Emerson Point partake in kayaking. There are three individual kayak launch sites, two of which are openings in the mangrove area and the quickest way to explore the terrain. At the tip of Emerson Point, there’s a launch area adjacent to a popular location. (Which is also another activity people enjoy doing at Emerson Point.) Kayaking is an excellent way to get up close and personal to the mangroves and several species of Heron and other wildlife that are native to the area. The endeavor is an experience you won’t forget anytime soon.

Emerson Point Preserve is managed by Manatee County and consists of 270 acres of land. There’s much to do, but we can’t stress enough how impressive the Potent Temple Mound is. The breathtaking spot has been estimated to be 1,200 years old and was crafted long before the Spanish first landed at St. Augustine. A boardwalk takes you over the mound so you can revel in its wonder.
